Our industry leading Landscape Construction Cochrane based client is seeking a full-time permanent year-round Landscape Construction Supervisor to join its team. Having been around for over 20 years, this organization is well established and looking for a key member of their team to handle large projects (>$500,000.00) whilst overseeing a team of five.

The Construction Supervisor is responsible for managing construction foremen on multiple projects simultaneously. S/he is responsible for coordinating staff and equipment with the dispatcher, relaying responsibilities, and training the foremen while managing budgets, client expectations, and quality on their projects.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

The key job functions are:

  • Attend scheduled meetings and provide feedback and updates on project status
  • Review project package
  • Assign foremen to projects
  • Attend pre-construction meetings with Estimator and Foreman for project turnover
  • Create and implement a project execution strategy with Foreman
  • Identify extras and coordinate with Foreman
  • Coordinate project startup with other supervisors and dispatch to ensure all project needs are met
  • Review and approve daily paperwork with Foreman
  • Train the Foreman on project build including how to manage:

  1. Safety
  2. Project Sequencing
  3. Inspection process
  4. Material ordering
  5. Material delivery
  6. Ordering and managing sub-contractors

  • Equipment management
  • Manage labourers and other staff
  • Train Foreman on how to manage paperwork including:

  1. Time keeping for foremen and crew
  2. Yard p.o.
  3. Safety documentation including FLHA, veh/equip inspections
  4. Shipping slips
  5. Third party purchases
  6. Disposal

  • Train Foreman on how to manage change orders/extras:

  1. Coordinate creation of X-project with Estimator
  2. Relay X-project info to dispatcher for following day review
  3. Coordinate the tracking of extra time/materials/subs with foreman and dispatch

  • Ensure that extras are clearly identified to the foreman and confirm accurate tracking of the extras with dispatch the following day
  • Update weekly progress report prior to schedule meeting
  • Review project status report (budgeted hrs vs. real hrs) with estimators to identify areas of concern and make necessary adjustments in the field.
  • Provide weekly feedback from the project status report to the foreman to communicate and identify areas of improvement
  • Provide feedback to estimators on allocated hours and identify production rates that require adjustment
  • Schedule and complete quality control inspections
  • Identify inefficiencies quickly and adapt
  • Identify areas where efficiencies can be gained for increased project profitability
  • Manage day to day scheduling of crews with other supervisors and dispatch
  • Coordinate trucking and other subcontractors with supervisors and dispatch to overlap subs and gain efficiencies
  • Coordinate inspections with the clients and consultants
  • Complete CCC and FAC meetings with consultants
  • Identify and schedule warranty work and deficiency repairs and coordinate with other supervisors and dispatch for overlap
  • Enforce the daily tasks and rules to help create an efficient work environment on site and at the yard
  • Identify areas of concerns and encourage communication from staff regarding policies and provide feedback to management


  • Project Management and/or Business College degree
  • 10+ years in the field can replace formal education


  • Strong leadership/coaching skills
  • Proven leadership ability
  • Ability to work with drawings and specs
  • Experience operating equipment (Excavators, Skid steer, etc.)
  • Time management skills
  • Ability to multitask (potential for multiple projects at once)


  • Supervised teams (5+ years)

Base Salary: $90,000 per year

Compensation based on experience.

Work Hours:

40 hours per work (Schedule TBD)

Remote Work:

This position is not remote and required to be on-site.

  • This employer has a vaccine mandate in effect – must be in adherence to said mandate.
