Our client’s Telecommunications team is growing, and they are looking for a smart, humble, and hungry Fibre Optics Installer / Technician focused on supporting the delivery of quality network services to their customers.

Reporting to and working closely with the Operations Coordinator, the Technician assists in the implementation of the operations plan from CO sites to Wireless POP builds and data centre builds in Western Canada.

This position is ideal for a “hands on” professional who values teamwork and growth.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

The key job functions are:

  • Installation of optical, data and power cables (fibre products and installation)
  • Optical Testing and commissioning
  • Interpreting manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams
  • Repairing equipment
  • Utilizing knowledge of industry standards and being up to date on current fibre criteria and practices
  • Splicing, installing, testing, and troubleshooting various telecom equipment
  • Following, documenting, and promoting in field telecom safety
  • Adhering to company maintenance policy
  • Working on aerial platforms and ladders


  • Clean criminal background
  • Valid driver’s license and own vehicle, truck or SUV preferred
  • Fall Protection Certification (required)
  • Ability to travel
  • Valid Vaccine Passport
  • Must have strong Mechanical and Technical Skills


  • Experience with fibre products and installation practices is required
  • Optical Testing and commissioning experience is an asset
  • Familiar with reporting within a large company structure, not independently
  • Ability to work in physically challenging environments
  • Tech savvy with mobiles, laptops, and applications
  • 3-5+ years with another large telecommunications company is an asset
  • Ability to learn new software and proprietary programs

Base Salary: $20 – 30 per hour

Paid travel time and gas reimbursement

Work Hours:

  • 40 hours per work (hours must be flexible)
  • Possible OT, weekend, and emergency on call hours

Remote Work:

This position is not remote and required to be on-site.

  • This opportunity does not include relocation. It will be the responsibility of the candidate should relocation be required.
